When to Use post tension anchor?
Rock-and-Soil Anchors - Post-Tensioning Institute
Post-tensioned rock and soil anchors provide a cost-efficient, high-performance solution for projects associated with temporary and permanent soil stabilization. The compressive stresses resist the anticipated tension stresses induced by the soil movements, enhancing the performance over a non-prestressed foundation. Cost benefits are achieved by reductions in quantities of concrete, steel and excavations, which in turn reduce labor costs.

Advantages of using post-tensioningfor your next Rock and Soil Anchor project:
- Re-stressable: Re-stressable systems can be implemented for flexibility in working in areas with ground and building movement.
- Construction Time Reduction: A permanently anchored retaining wall can substantially reduce the cost and construction time.
- Resistance to Sliding and Overturning: Permanent dam tie downs increase its resistance to sliding and overturning.
- Cost Reduction: An existing wall can typically be stabilized with permanent anchors at a fraction of the cost of constructing a new wall without disturbing the rock or soil behind the wall.

Hi Customer,
thank you for reaching out to us.
depending on the phase of construction several options are available. The Hilti HCI-WF Cast-in Anchor can be attached to the concrete form work prior to pouring the concrete. Unfortunately there are currently no post-installed anchors with shallow embedment depths that comply ACI 318 and IBC requirements. Most Engineers require scanning the concrete to locate the post-tensioned cables prior to drilling the concrete.
The Hilti PS X-Scan system displays a top view of the scan for easy object mapping plus cross sections in both directions for easy identification of multiple layers in concrete structures. Mechanicall anchor options for cracked concrete and seismic applications include the KWIK Bolt TZ Expansion Anchor (cracked concrete and seismic) and KWIK HUS-EZ I Carbon Steel Screw Anchor. The KWIK Bolt 3 Expansion Anchor is an option for uncracked concrete. I hope I have answered your question. If there is anything else, please let me know.
Best Regards
Jorge
