Wire Fencing Guide: Working with Tornado

Confused about the annotations and names of different wire fences? We know the importance of selecting the right stock fence for your animals, and this guide covers our core stock fence range - along with features, uses and a key to the letter/number compilations that differentiate them.

A key to the letters and numbers on our Tornado stock fence:

C - Medium Mild Steel

R- High Tensile Torus Knot

HT - High Tensile Hinge Joint

The number following the above the letter(s) denotes the amount of horizontal wires in the fence.

The middle numbers are the fence height in centimeters.

The last number is the distance between each vertical wire.

For example, C8/80/15 Stock fence means that this is mild steel composition, has 8 horizontal wires in the fence, is 80cm high and has a gap of 15cm between each vertical wire.

Here's a brief overview of our wire stock fence range:

C8/80/15 STOCK FENCE

This was traditionally known as 6 inch pig netting. It&#;s simply excellent value for money and easily installed as mild steel is so pliable.

Who uses it?

Typically, farmers and small holders installing their own fencing.

R8/80/22 STOCK FENCE

Known as &#;lambsafe&#;, this is the ultimate sheep fencing as the hole size is large enough that it prevents sheep from getting their heads stuck. This is also high tensile wire and therefore a lot stronger when pulled - features our famous &#;Torus&#; knot which means that the fence wont fold over time and stands up nicely when being installed.

Who uses it?

It really is the contractor&#;s choice, but farmers alike can reap its benefits as its much better for their stock.

R6/85/22 PHEASANT-FRIENDLY STOCK FENCE

This pheasant-friendly fencing has been designed specifically for the shooting community and the holes are large enough for running birds to pass through but it&#;s also great for stock. As it&#;s a premium net it also comes with Gripples so connecting and terminating are super easy.

Who uses it?

Gamekeepers and landowners, but also livestock farmers where the passing through of birds and small wildlife, as well as larger holes in wire, don&#;t pose an issue.

R12/110/8 HORSE FENCE

It&#;s construction includes the Torus knot, which prevents it from moving if kicked by a horse. This is very important in preventing feet getting stuck in the fence. This has also been used by a lot of customers for dog enclosures or garden boundaries. It is also made in a 5cm spacing for small ponies or young stock.

Who uses it?

Equestrian and smallholding establishments with a few horses are the most common users of this stock fence, due to its features being specifically appropriate for equine use.

HT15/158/8 BADGER FENCE

This Badger netting helps prevents the spread of TB. As it&#;s made in hinge joint, the net can be folded over at the base or dug down to stop badgers digging underneath it.

Who uses it?

Livestock farmers &#; especially cattle farmers &#; with stock that is at risk from TB and other badger-related diseases.

HT13/190/15 DEER FENCE

This fence is designed specifically to repel deer safely and effectively. Constructed from Hi-Tensile Plus, this fence offers a secure boundary and unrivaled strength.

Who uses it?

This fencing is used to exclude, not contain deer. This fence is perfect for applications such as preventing wild deer trampling crops, crossing roadways or accessing protected woodland.
