Brass Laser Cutting Machine
Brass Laser Cutting Machine
Laser cutting is often the preferred method for cutting brass due to its precision, speed, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Compared to other cutting methods like plasma cutting and flame cutting, laser cutting offers significant advantages:
Precision
Laser cutting is highly precise and the cutting slit is narrow. It can produce intricate and complex cuts with minimal material waste. Moreover, since brass is reflective, using fiber lasers with shorter wavelengths reduces reflectivity, leading to even more precise cutting.
Broader Applicability
Laser cutting can handle both thin and thick brass sheets. It is especially adept at cutting thinner materials where other methods, like plasma cutting, may not be as effective. This makes it a versatile option for various brass cutting needs.
Clean Cuts
Laser cutting produces a clean, smooth edge with minimal burring, reducing the need for additional finishing or polishing. It also generates a smaller heat-affected zone, minimizing distortion and preserving the material properties near the cut.
Speed
Lasers can quickly cut through brass, making the process faster than other methods.
Cost-effectiveness
While laser cutting equipment may be more expensive than other cutting methods, the process is cost-effective in the long run due to its speed, precision, and minimal material waste.
Engraving on Brass? - Community Laser Talk
Are you using mm/m?
The advertisement says metal but it only shows them cut 0.05mm Stainless.
@berainlb has a good point about visible light lasers not working too well with metals.
With copper, you may not be able to do much.
I don’t use my LED types for this, but I have a fiber, and engraving copper has a lot of issues that affect how it's engraved.
Copper has a higher melting point, according to the Internet on lasing metals. It also is one of the most heat conductive metals we have; makes it great for cooking but not so great for lasers.
On the fiber, I have to make big changes to get much of an effect.
Dropping the speed is about all you can do if you’re at 100% power.
I’d drop a note to the vendor and ask them.
