One of the newest entrants into the Chinese EV market is Avatr, a joint venture between Changan Automobile, lithium-ion battery manufacturer CATL, and tech giant Huawei. Their debut model, the Avatr 11 (spoken as "one one"), has garnered significant attention. Despite there being no current plans for a U.S. release, the Avatr 11 is still a vehicle worth noting.

First, the cost. In China, the Avatr 11 is priced between $47,000 and $63,000, making it slightly pricier than the Tesla Model Y in the Chinese market. The Avatr 11's dimensions are larger, measuring 192.1 inches in length and 77.6 inches in width, compared to the Model Y's 187 inches in length and 77.5 inches in width.

This price tag is justified by its performance. The tested dual-motor model features Huawei-sourced electric motors that produce a peak output of 578 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just under 4.0 seconds. The battery, supplied by CATL, has a capacity of 116 kilowatt-hours, providing a range of up to 420 miles based on China's CLTC standards.

One might expect an air suspension system at this price point, but the Avatr 11 does not include this feature, even as an option. However, this does not seem to detract from its ride quality or handling, according to the review.
