Vscan Air CL Pre-Treatment at the Point of Use

4. Rotate the Vscan Air CL, wiping the surface. If the wipe becomes soiled, discard it and use a fresh one.

5. Wrap a clean wipe around a soft nylon bristle brush to access the crevices (avoid using the brush on the lenses).

6. Turn the Vscan Air CL so the small lens faces away from your body.
7. Clean as described, ensuring all surfaces are wiped.
8. Visually inspect the Vscan Air CL and repeat the process until visibly clean.

NOTE: Pay special attention to lenses, edges, and grooves.

Cleaning Using A Cleaning Solution

1. Prepare a basin with enzymatic cleaner as per the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Immerse the probe in the solution, ensuring no air bubbles are trapped.

3. Use a soft nylon bristle brush to clean the probe, avoiding the lenses.

4. Ensure the probe remains in the solution for the recommended time.

2. Hold the Vscan Air CL with the large lens facing away from your body.
3. Wipe the Vscan Air CL from the large lens to the small lens, rotating it slightly after each pass.
4. Turn the Vscan Air CL so the small lens is facing away from your body.
5. Use a new wipe for the small lens, then wipe from small to large lens.
6. Wrap a clean wipe around a soft nylon brush to clean crevices, avoiding the lenses.
7. Ensure all surfaces remain wet for the duration specified on the disinfectant label.
8. Dry all surfaces with a sterile, lint-free cloth, and blot or pat the lenses dry.

9. Inspect the Vscan Air CL after each use. If damaged, do not use until repaired by a GEHC Service Representative.

High-Level Disinfection – Soak

High-Level Disinfection is necessary for devices contacting non-intact skin. Follow 'Manual Cleaning Instructions' before disinfection.

Avoid prolonged soaking, as it can damage the probe and pose an electric shock hazard.

1. Prepare a basin with disinfectant as per manufacturer instructions, observing soak times and dilution rates.
2. Immerse and soak the probe for the recommended duration, ensuring no air bubbles are trapped.
3. Rinse thoroughly to remove disinfectant residues.
4. Dry with a sterile, lint-free cloth.

NOTE: High-level disinfectants may be available as powders; follow the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the solution.

Choosing A Disinfectant

Determine the required level of disinfection based on risk of cross-contamination or exposure to non-intact skin. High-level disinfection is recommended in such cases. Good hand hygiene helps reduce cross-contamination risks.

Covering The Vscan Air CL Using A Sterile, Protective Sheath

1. Place an appropriate amount of gel inside the sheath and/or on the transducer face.

2. Insert the Vscan Air CL into the sheath using sterile technique. Remove wrinkles and air bubbles, avoiding punctures.
3. Secure the sheath and inspect for holes or tears. Replace immediately if compromised.
